We’ll update you during the production process and send you photos if you wish.

Step 4: Tatami Production

Each tatami mat is handcrafted in our workshop in Urayasu, Japan.
We use authentic Japanese materials such as Kumamoto Igusa, Daiken Washi Paper, or Sekisui Resin Surface, carefully selected for durability and beauty.

  • Production time: 2–3 weeks on average
  • During busy months (October–December): about 1 month
  • After completion, each tatami is inspected, cleaned, and securely packaged for international shipment.

Step 5: Shipping & Delivery

Your tatami will be shipped using EMS (Japan Post) or reliable international couriers such as FedEx or DHL — depending on your country and delivery conditions.

  • Shipping time: Usually 1–3 weeks depending on destination and customs
  • We will send you a tracking number once your order has been dispatched.
  • All packages are carefully packed to prevent bending or moisture during transit.

✳️ Please note: Some countries may charge customs duties or VAT upon arrival. These fees are the responsibility of the customer.

Step 6: When Your Tatami Arrives

Once your tatami has arrived, please open the package as soon as possible to allow the material to breathe.
Tatami is a natural product and may absorb humidity if left sealed for too long.

If you ordered fitted tatami (for a specific room):
You’ll receive a paper guide showing the correct placement order.

If you ordered modular or foldable tatami:
All mats are the same size — you can freely arrange them in your preferred layout.

After setting up your tatami, please let us know!
If possible, we would be honored to receive a photo of your tatami in your home — it brings us great joy to see Japanese craftsmanship appreciated around the world.
